Kitesurfing Geremeas Sardinia: tips and information on the kite-spot of Geremeas

Geremeas is a famous tourist location in the Municipality of Quartu Sant’Elena, in the south of Sardinia. Close to Torre delle Stelle and Solanas, the bay of Geremeas, three kilometers long, has a crystal sea and white sand. Exposed to the winds of Mistral (NW), Ponente (W) and Libeccio (SW),  Geremeas is a spot for windsurfers and kitesurfers. Kitesurfing in Geremeas is recommended only to expert riders: due to the gusty winds, to the short beach and to the waves, kitesurfing in Geremeas is quite complicated and requires advanced skills.

Kitesurfing Geremeas: Kite Spot Description

Geremeas, with its 3 km of white sand and crystal waters, is one beautiful beach in the southern Sardinia.

The beach of Geremeas becomes a good kitesurfing spot with certain wind conditions. This kite-spot of Sardinia works with Mistral (NW), Ponente (W) and Libeccio (SW). When the wind blows from north, the wind is very gusty. Mistral (NW) is usually quite gusty. Ponente (W), that in Geremeas blows onshore right side, and the Libeccio are the best winds here and, when strong, create good waves.

Geremeas is the nearest kite-spot to Cagliari for kitesurfing with Mistral and onshore-side shore wind.

In Geremeas is not easy to launch and land the kites because of the gusty wind, the small dunes bihind the beach and the Mediterranean scrub. The sea bottom becomes immediately deep and there are often waves. For those reasons, the kite-spot of Geremeas is recommended only to expert riders.

During the Summer season the beach is usually really crowded, so is very hard to kitesurf in this period. For this reason the kitesurfing spot of Geremeas is considered a winter kite-spot.

Along the coast that goes from Cagliari to Villasimius, Geremeas is practically the only place where is possible to kiteusurf. In other places like Capitana, Torre delle Stelle, Solanas, Capo Boi, beaches and wind conditions are pratically unsuitable for kitesurfing.

Although in Geremeas the “bad days in kitesurfing” are frequent, when you have a lucky day you will take home an unforgettable kitesurfing session.

Kitesurfing Lessons in Geremeas, Sardinia

As seen above, due to the weather conditions (wind is not always blowing and when is blowing is gusty) and to the characteristics of the kite-spot (short beach, waves, beach crowded during the summer), it is really difficult to organize kitesurfing lessons in Geremas.

For this reason, our kiteschool does not offer kitesurfing lessosn in Geremas.

We could do Kitesurfing Lessons in the beaches near Cagliari (Poetto, Petrol Beach) and in Punta Trettu the best kite-spot of Sardinia with flat and shallow water and steady winds.

Kite Spots Near Geremeas

As we saw earlier, the beach of Geremeas is a winter kite-spot and it is not a kite-spot for beginners. Therefore if you are a beginner and you like to take Kitesurfing Lessons or improve your kite-level, you have to consider the possibility to move to other Sardinia kite-spots.

The best kite-spots, especially for beginners, not so far from Geremeas are the kite-spots near Cagliari (Poetto, Petrol Beach) and Punta Trettu, the best kite spot of Sardinia.
